I have been feeling extremely guilty about not having enough time to spend with the children. It is exam season in school so the grading of exam scripts is taking its toll. This also explains the drought of blogging. There is a list that runs in order of importance here. And clearing the scripts is ahead of children (for the moment) and finding time to hang with the children is ahead of blogging.
So, to be able to blog means that I have been able to spend some time with the children.
Thank God for Saturdays. Ever since I started work, I live for the weekends where I can get more than 4 hours of sleep and I get to spend time doing things with the twins.
This morning, before we set out for our Saturday morning adventure, this time to Aunty J's cousin's pancake parlour called Strictly Pancakes, I decided to play a word game that I had finally gotten round to setting up with Jordan. This was a word family game, in this case the word family ending with -at. Jordan, Evan or both would have to match the beginning consonant with the -at, make a word and match the relevant picture.
Jordan hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet but she knew how to recognise her lower consonants and sound them out. Also, trust my fashionista daughter to insist when she finally matched 'h' with '-at' to make 'hat' and its corresponding picture, to ask for a real hat to go along with the word.
We still have a long way to go but it's a good first step that she likes the game and is willing to play it. I just hope that I can find another pocket of time soon to play the game with her soon so that she really does get how to play it. And hopefully when she comes to 'c' and '-at', she won't ask for a real feline, to which she is establishing some sort of affinity for.
