Daddy's got a new toy. In simple English, it's a lens that takes nice portraits while blurring the background. For more details, check out his blog. So what better subjects to test out the new lens then Evan and Baby J. These are some photos Packrat took when we took the kids to West Coast Park one evening.
This is Evan, enthralled by the water breaking on the rocks. Why doesn't his bath water do that?
Baby J in a "I know I'm cute, look at me" moment while the last rays of sun for the day bounce off her face.
We've decided that Evan really has a thing for animals. Dogs, cats, birds, squirrels...he watches them with deathly concentration before wanting to leap out at them. Somewhat cat like. Here he is, trying to clamber out of his pram to get to a cat that was eating ahead of them.
Baby J, as you can see, is not fussed. She is happy to have her pacifier. Something I would love to rid her of but have no idea how to. I fear her temper!

It is said, that there are some ways to get a child to "self-wean" from a pacifier. I don't know if they work... never tried them personally myself cos my children all prefered... umm, the real thing...
ReplyDelete1. cut a small slit in the teat of the paci... this makes it deflate and flat and not shiok to suck anymore.
2. rub a little lemon or lime juice on it... or maybe a lot... or something bitter. then tell her paci spoil already.
I only nearly had one paci monster... in my Shannon... but that was just for a short while. I can't remember how she gave it up though, but she did. It never was an issue with her... the other two just always spat the pacis out with a vengeance... puh-tuuuuuiiiii!!! then looked super insulted that I'd offered them a rubber teat instead of... umm, the real thing. Heh.
>justpassingby: how does one wean them off... umm, the real thing then?
ReplyDeleteto the above poster (cannot make chinese character, also dunno how to read... is it xue???)
ReplyDeleteUmm, my friend say the lime thing also work for weaning off the real thing... for me, I just replace each feed with bottle one feed at a time for a week, then slowly just like that, cut down lor. I weaned all of mine before age 11mths, so not much protesting from them lah. Heh. But more ley chey if you are trying to wean after age 1, when they can go and self-service...
I've seen some of my friends with older tods going to help themselves, esp if mom is sitting down or something. Then they just, umm, lift and latch... heh.
Hope that helps... ?
