Why why why? Why is the sky so high?

My mother said as a child, I talked a lot. She said I could hold court in the car from Bukit Timah where we lived to Katong where my grandma lived, without taking a breath. She said the only way to shut me up was to tell me that she needed to concentrate and if she couldn't, we might a) get lost b) get into an accident. But she also said that she never dissuaded us from asking "why?" because she felt that's how we'd learn.

My two children talk non-stop; Evan morethan Jordan. But Jordan has entered the "why" phase.

She asked if she could go outside and cycle and I said no.

Jordan: Why?
Me: Because it's raining.
Jordan: Why is it raining?
Me: Because God decided the rain was a good idea.
Jordan: Why?
Me: Because it's been hot and all the plants have been dying.
Jordan: Why?
Me: Global Warming.
Jordan: Mummy turn on aircon.
Me: Why?
Jordan: Because it's hot. Global Warming.

I don't think that was where the conversation was supposed to head but I'm not going to be one to stop it.
