Nightly migration

About a week ago, we decided that we had had enough of sharing our bed with our two older munchkins. Much as we love them and much as they are wonderful to snuggle up with, we missed having the bed to ourselves and we missed being able to cuddle one another and have little chats before I inadvertently pass out in the middle of one of them. I particularly miss being kissed goodnight. That took too much navigating over the two children sleeping perpendicular to us.

Packrat's grand plan to reclaim our bed was to make bedtime in the twins' room fun. To do that, we made it seem like a nightly sleep over where we moved our pillows and blankets over. Little did they know that it was all a ploy and we actually move everything back after we fall asleep.

But it has worked. We have succeeded in making them excited about going to bed in their own room. So much so that tonight, they could wait for us to move our pillows over and took matters into their own hands literally.

Back and forth they went, working together quite well, till there were no more pillows left. I didn't want to tell them that usually Packrat and I moved just enough pillows to clutter up their mattress on the floor because that meant less for us to move back later on. And it was hilarious watching them like little coolies, heaving the pillows, bolsters and comforters across to their room before settling victoriously onto the top of the pile that they had made.

Unfortunately they still migrate over at some point of the night. But at least, we get to go to bed together and spend some time just the two of us before the nightly migration occurs in reverse order.
