I've had to clear out my cupboard. I don't have enough space in it for my non-pregnant clothes and the clothes that I can actually wear now. Plus, it depresses me that I can't fit into my favourite Gap jeans and I feel sad when I peer into my cupboard and see it peeking out at me, lamenting the fact that it's stayed in the cupboard unnoticed for the last 5 months. So, today, with great apologies, I found some time to put it away.
While putting away some other clothes, I chanced upon things that I haven't seen for a while or didn't even know I had. That's what happens when people buy you clothes that don't fit too well at that moment in time. So, I attempt to put them on, after all, they were a bit big back when... Unfortunately, now, I'm a bit big. Not just round the belly where the offspring reside but the hips and the butt too. According to my doctor, it's a natural thing right from the primitive ages where women like animals had to hibernate when they had babies and stocked up on fat. His very apt analogy was, "you stock your larder in the winter". Righto.
So, I have a larger butt than I've ever had before with corresponding hips and belly to go. I've been consoled by people remind me of my high metabolic rate and the fact that breastfeeding burns 1000 calories. Yup, ok, I'll keep that all in mind as I bid a hopefully temporary farewell to the clothes that no longer fit.
