Birthday highlights

Every end of June, we overdose on birthday cake. It's my birthday and the twins'. Most of the celebration revolves around them. And this is the second year running that the household has been sick during the birthday season. Last year, it was H1N1. This year, Hand, Foot and Mouth.

But with little children, we always feel that the party must go on. We prayed hard that Evan would be clear by his birthday because the adults who are unwell don't drool or blow out candles so it's more easily contained.

Anyway, a tally of this year's birthday celebration.

1. 1 present- I asked mostly for people to give them ang pows because I want to send them to gymnastics class. The one big present they got was a water canal set which everyone including the adults loved. It just made me keenly aware that I was born NOT to be an engineer. Took me ages to set up the system and my thumbs were so sore after that!

2. 2 VIPs- I don't count usually. Most of the festivities revolve around them. Especially this year because all I wanted to do was rip my throat out or mainline ice cream down it.

3. 3 years old- Little J was supposed to toss her pacifier the day she turned 3. It hasn't happened yet although she seems to be consciously trying to wean herself off it. Evan asked if he needed to throw away his duck when he turned 3. I assured him that he didn't and he was most relieved.

4. 4 birthday cakes- one Princess cake (no guesses who), one Mr messy cake, one Toy Story 3 cake (which they are thrilled by because they are 3 and recognise the number 3) and one VW cake (for Evan whose new obsession is car insignias and his favourite is the VW one because his Uncle Kevin has a VW.)

5. 5 helpings of cake between the 2 birthday kids per celebration. I suspect they totally overdosed on cake. Thankfully it did not affect their sleeping.

6. 6 pm. I am very insistent on bedtimes for the twins. But on average, each party of theirs only began at 6 pm and that meant it didn't wrap up to about 8 or 9 pm each time. At the back of my mind, it bugged me but I figured it was their birthday and I should let loose once in a while. Even the little bubs had later bed times. Muffin and his cousin spent some time acquainting themselves with one another. Muffin needs a hair transplant compared to his cousin!

Happy Birthday, my Sweetpeas. I can't believe it's been 3 years!

  2. I got it from the Better Toy Store. There's one in Taka and another at Tanglin Mall. They come in different sizes. :) How old are your twins? :)
